It's funny how the associated meaning and cultural references (Contemporary, beautiful, mystical = Arvo Part) can drive your perceptions of structure.

A bit like the saying: "if the only tool you have is a hammer, all your problems tend to look like a nail"...

Indeed, the directions you suggest are very important. They will take still a bit of time to implement. U-Study II is a mixed media work involving HighC composed sounds, softsynths, sampled sounds, written out parts in Finale and further mixed in a sound editor program.

I admire the work of Arvo Part, although I consider my compositional technique entirely different. Some echoes from Penderecki of 50’s perhaps…

Your program is a valuable and versatile compositional tool. Stereo output and the capability of importing samples could be some future improvements. I’m aware from your site that you’re planning such features.

I can’t judge the translation in poetic terms, although the meaning seems quite exact to me.

Thanks again for your interest in my pieces.
Dimitri SykiasDimitri Sykiashttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00414437645646915268noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-224666200402230552.post-89378832578171851222009-02-26T15:52:00.000+02:002009-02-26T15:52:00.000+02:00http://www.esoteric.msu.edu/VolumeII/MysticalTheol...http://www.esoteric.msu.edu/VolumeII/MysticalTheology.htmlUnknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12621348630576763277noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-224666200402230552.post-71144153565549790912009-02-26T15:50:00.000+02:002009-02-26T15:50:00.000+02:00Is this a good translation?Supernal Triad, Deity a...Is this a good translation?

Supernal Triad, Deity above all essence, knowledge and goodness; Guide of Christians to Divine Wisdom; direct our path to the ultimate summit of your mystical knowledge, most incomprehensible, most luminous and most exalted, where the pure, absolute and immutable mysteries of theology are veiled in the dazzling obscurity of the secret Silence, outshining all brilliance with the intensity of their Darkness, and surcharging our blinded intellects with the utterly impalpable and invisible fairness of glories surpassing all beauty.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12621348630576763277noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-224666200402230552.post-24465261029612075842009-02-26T15:33:00.000+02:002009-02-26T15:33:00.000+02:00Thanks for this work. I notice you don't mention Arvo Part in your blog posts, yet it seems to me that your use of textures (well, yours are electronical while he uses mostly physical instruments) and multi-resolution patterns echoes some of Arvo Part's work. Do you count him in your inspirational people?

Second, I am the author of HighC, and Georges was inspired to point me to your pages. I understand you use HighC with a very high proficiency. I would have 2 questions:

1) Did you use HighC for this piece, if yes, what was your use for it?
2) Do you see improvements I could do to the software to make it a better tool?
Thanks again.
Thomas BaudelUnknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12621348630576763277noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-224666200402230552.post-37958145233794606882009-02-25T22:19:00.000+02:002009-02-25T22:19:00.000+02:00ΆφωνοςΆφωνοςgeorge hatzimichelakishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02063508666426022904noreply@blogger.com
